On Oct 3 2017, a few days after my 69th birthday, I was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic adenocarcinoma. This is a terminal diagnosis, where survival at 5 years has been in the single digits. Cancer research is at a point where there are many rational treatment choices. My family and I embarked on a series experimentss motivated by increasing the probability that I can see my grandkids graduate from high school.
In March 2019 I passed away. My last symbolic act was to hand my wife - the love of my life - a red rose.
I almost threaded the needle and made it out the other side. The journey was incredible, and we learned so much that could be valuable to others. Once they have recovered from the immediate grief, my family has promised to share our story here.
